REGULATIONS
Art. 1 – The Scientific Committee has technical and consultative functions. It is composed, in addition to the President and the Secretary General, of up to 25 members selected—on the proposal of the President of the Association—from among the recipients of the Guido Dorso Award or representatives of organizations awarded the Presidential Plaque of the Republic. Selection is based on their experience in institutional, economic, social, and cultural fields. The Association focuses on the development of Southern Italy (Mezzogiorno) in its various dimensions—social, economic, scientific, artistic, and cultural—within a national, European, and Mediterranean perspective.
Art. 2 – Participation in the Scientific Committee is on a voluntary basis, and so are the activities carried out within its framework.
Art. 3 – The members of the Scientific Committee serve a three-year term and may be tacitly renewed, unless they resign or are removed for unworthiness. Each member is appointed in a personal capacity, based on their curriculum, professional experience, and expertise, and for the contribution of ideas and advice they can provide. Therefore, in their role as members of the Scientific Committee, they do not represent nor commit any organization, body, or company with which they have professional or personal affiliations.
Art. 4 – Each member’s contribution is voluntary and does not entail any obligations or commitments unless previously agreed upon with the individual. Members may carry out their duties either collectively or through online consultations. Moreover, the President of the Association will facilitate direct engagement with individual members, including for specific research, publishing, and cultural promotion activities.
Art. 5 – To make the most of the expertise of its members and to support its activities, the Scientific Committee—upon proposal by the President of the Association—may be organized into thematic subcommittees, each with its own Coordinator. It may also appoint its own President. All appointments are valid for three years.
Art. 6 – Members of the Scientific Committee may be consulted by the President of the Association regarding possible candidates for the Guido Dorso International Award.
Art. 7 – The Scientific Committee meets at least once a year, either in person or online, during or around the time of the Guido Dorso Award ceremony.
